According to Do Tien Loi, Deputy General Director of the Urban Infrastructure Development Investment Corporation (UDIC), the Yen Nghia 1 regulating lake project is an urgent work of great importance towards the completion of the city’s drainage system.
With a construction period of only 330 days, under the city’s requirements, key components must be completed before May 15 to ensure timely drainage and flood prevention during the 2026 rainy season.
The tight schedule places heavy pressure on all forces at the site, requiring continuous, high-intensity, well-organised, and disciplined work. So far, soil excavation, construction of regulating culverts, and reinforcement of power poles have been implemented simultaneously.
“We are organising continuous construction, optimising manpower and equipment, increasing night shifts to make up for progress, and striving to meet the set deadlines,” Do Tien Loi said.
Expressing their appreciation for the attention from the capital’s trade union officials, worker Nguyen Xuan Thuong shared: “During the holiday, we work as usual, even more focused, with the highest sense of responsibility and determination to keep the project on schedule.”
He added that workers on duty during the holiday receive wages and benefits in line with the Labour Code and collective labour agreements, along with meals provided for day and night shifts and adequate drinking water to cope with the hot weather.
During the Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day and April 30 holiday, the corporation’s leaders directly visited the site to encourage workers, providing additional motivation and strengthening their attachment to the project.
Visiting the lakebed construction area, Nguyen Van Thang personally handed over gifts from the trade union to workers who have been working day and night on site. He also inquired about working conditions, income, meals, and rest, while recognising and commending their sense of responsibility and efforts to overcome difficulties.
According to the Chairman of the Ha Noi Federation of Labour, being present at the construction site on May Day not only provides spiritual encouragement but also reaffirms the role of trade unions in accompanying and supporting employees.
Also, on the afternoon of May 1, Nguyen Thi Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the Ha Noi Federation of Labour, visited and presented gifts to employees at the underground regulating reservoir project in the Hang Da Market area in Hoan Kiem Ward.
As an urgent project, the contractor has mobilised maximum manpower, organising construction in three shifts and four crews around the clock, regardless of weather conditions, to ensure progress. At present, construction is on schedule and ready to be put into operation on time.
