Speaking at the conference, the city’s Department of Information and Communications Luong Hai Au revealed that the festival will open with a colourful art programme entitled ‘Hai Phong – A destination of success’ on the evening of May 11.
The programme, to be broadcast live on Vietnam Television Channel 1, will bring to the stage popular Vietnamese singers and popstars. It will conclude with a 15-mintue fireworks display at the city’s Opera House.
During this year’s Red Flamboyant Flower Festival, visitors will have an opportunity to take part in up to 66 cultural, tourism and sporting events and activities, including a poster exhibition, a Xam folk singing festival, the Hai Phong Golden Chef Awards, and a golf tourney.
A contest entitled ‘Check-in Hai Phong – the city I love’ will also be held within the framework of the festival, encouraging tourists to share their memorable moments in Hai Phong and post their photos on social networks.
According to the Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee Le Khac Nam, the festival is one of the activities aimed at contributing to promoting the land and people of Hai Phong to visitors at home and abroad, thus boosting local tourism development.
