This update brings the total number of recognised sites to 6,489, reinforcing Hanoi’s status as a capital rich in cultural heritage.
Between 2013 and 2016, an initial survey documented 5,922 heritage sites across Hanoi. However, recognising that many sites had yet to be identified, the city launched a supplementary inventory in July 2024 under Plan No. 219/KH-UBND. This effort led to the discovery and official recognition of the additional 567 sites.
The districts with the most significant increases in recognised sites include Chuong My, Ba Vi, My Duc, Ung Hoa, Thuong Tin, Thach That, Thanh Tri, Thanh Oai, Son Tay, Soc Son, and Quoc Oai.
The Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports has been tasked with publishing this updated inventory as well as coordinating with local authorities to ensure the effective management, preservation, and promotion of these heritage sites. Additionally, the department will conduct an annual review and report on any changes, with comprehensive assessments every five years to propose further updates to the inventory.
