At the event, Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the City Department of Education and Training, said that the emulation campaign titled “150 days and nights to complete 1,000 classrooms” for the 2026–2027 academic year had completed one-third of its journey.

According to the plan, in 2026 Ho Chi Minh City will implement 73 school projects with a total of 1,323 new classrooms, including 1,055 additional classrooms, with total investment amounting to trillions of dong from both the State budget and socialised funding sources.

By the end of May 2026, 14 projects are expected to be completed and put into operation, providing 233 new classrooms, notably including Tran Dai Nghia Primary School.

To ensure the campaign achieves its goals, Nguyen Manh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, requested agencies, units, and localities to regard this as an especially important political task for 2026.

Heads of Party committees, authorities, and project investors must directly oversee, inspect, and take responsibility for construction progress, while promptly resolving difficulties and obstacles related to investment procedures, site clearance, licensing, materials, and capital disbursement. Delays caused by subjective reasons must be absolutely avoided.

Investors and contractors must organise construction scientifically and continuously while ensuring quality, aesthetics, technical standards, labour safety, and environmental hygiene. Outstanding collectives and individuals should be promptly commended, while sluggish and irresponsible cases must be dealt with strictly.
