The AMC has been organised annually by the Mathematical Association of America since 1950. Each year, the competition attracts large numbers of students from around the world. It also provides Vietnamese students with an opportunity to participate in an internationally standardised mathematics contest.

A representative of Trung Vuong Secondary School said that it has become a long-standing tradition for large numbers of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders to register for the competition each year.

“The competition offers a valuable experience for students who are passionate about mathematics. Trung Vuong Secondary School always creates favourable conditions and encourages students to participate in beneficial academic activities so they can diversify their learning experiences and showcase their abilities,” said Nguyen Cam Thanh, Vice Principal of Trung Vuong Secondary School.

In the current academic year, nearly 100 students from the school took part in AMC 8. Among them, Hoang Minh Hieu from Class 6H1 achieved exceptional results: earning a perfect score (D-Distinction), ranking among the top 1% of highest-scoring candidates worldwide (HD-Honor Roll of Distinction), while also receiving a Gold award (G-Gold) and a Certificate of Achievement for achieving the highest score among 6th graders and below.

According to the school representative, the achievement affirms the capability and confidence of the school’s students on the international stage. It also serves as motivation for students to continue nurturing their passion for mathematics and confidently take on new challenges in the future, while contributing to the school’s success in the 2025–2026 academic year.
