Associate Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Toan, Director of Hue university, stated that the university will grant six full two-year scholarships, worth VND94 million (US$4,402) each, and 18 partial two-year scholarships valued at VND48 million (US$2,201) each.
Candidates are required to have graduated from the same or closely-related majors, which are suitable with the enrolled master courses, as well as a minimum six month Vietnamese language proficiency certificate. Priority will be given to those who have graduated from a Vietnamese university.
Candidates can apply from now until March 25, 2015 for the 1st period and August 15 to September 15, 2015 for the 2nd period.
The scholarship programme aims to help train high-quality human resources for Lao provinces of Saravane and Xekong, as well as Lao universities and colleges, particularly Savannakhet and Champassak universities which have set up co-operative agreements with Hue University.
In the 2013-2014 academic year, about 370 Lao students were enrolled at 15 universities and colleges in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue. Throughout the past, the central province has trained hundreds of Lao students for Laos’ central and southern provinces.
The People's Committee of Thua Thien-Hue province has invested in construction of residential areas for Laos students in Vi Da Nam neighbourhood with a total investment of VND10 billion.
The province will also facilitate improvements in the enrolment process and support Lao students to meet the demands of academic requirements, as well as provide information about training programmes for students to make appropriate decisions for the future.
