The newly announced national intangible cultural heritages include Lang Traditional Festival (Thu Tri commune); Ong Pagoda Traditional Festival (Nhu Quynh commune); and Folk Knowledge of Raising and Processing Dong Tao Chicken (Hoan Long commune).
Each heritage recognised on this occasion bears its own uniqueness, reflecting the distinctive identity of Hung Yen’s land and people. Whether in times of integration or development, the local Party committees and authorities have always prioritised the preservation, conservation and promotion of traditional values passed down through generations.

If the Lang Festival in Thu Tri commune (formerly Song Lang commune, Vu Thu district, Thai Binh province) is famous for its ancient wrestling tradition still practiced today and considered an indispensable spiritual activity for local people, then the Ong Pagoda Traditional Festival in Nhu Quynh commune (former Tan Quang commune, Van Lam district, Hung Yen province) is closely linked to the legend of Zen Master Tu Dao Hanh.
The festival retains many rituals such as the ceremonial flag-raising, the procession of King Ly Than Tong, and various traditional folk games. Among these, the flag-raising ritual is particularly unique and no other festival in Hung Yen province has preserved it.
As for the Folk Knowledge of Raising and Processing Dong Tao Chicken in Hoan Long commune (former Dong Tao commune, Khoai Chau district, formerly part of Hung Yen province), it is demonstrated through the careful selection, breeding, and care of this prized chicken breed, famous for its large, rough legs and regarded as a delicacy, especially during the Lunar New Year.
Dong Tao chicken can be cooked into many dishes. Many localities have adopted Dong Tao chicken farming due to its ease and high economic efficiency. Some countries such as the UK and Japan are also considering importing this breed for research and development in their domestic markets.
With these additions, Hung Yen province now has a total of 27 national intangible cultural heritages recognised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The province has clearly identified the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage values as a key contributor to socio-economic development, with a focus on tourism development in the current phase. This is also essential for the successful implementation of Resolution No. 13-NQ/TU dated October 8, 2021, issued by the Provincial Party Committee on the Programme for the Preservation and Promotion of Cultural Heritage and Historical Sites in connection with Tourism Development in Hung Yen Province for the 2021–2025 period, with a vision to 2030.
