Japanese professor awarded honorary doctorate from Da Nang University

Da Nang University (DNU) on March 22 conferred an honorary doctorate to Japanese Prof. Dr. Hitoshi Yamada from the Yokohama National University.

Prof. Dr. Yamada is one of the leading experts in the construction industry in Japan. He has made significant contributions to the development of Vietnam and Da Nang, in particular through technology transfer projects on the construction of cable-stayed bridges in Vietnam as well as co-operative agreements on developing human resources between Yokohama and Da Nang.

He has also actively worked to boost co-operation between the DNU Yokohama National University in various fields of training assistance and joint research.

In 2013, he received a certificate of merit from the Vietnamese Government for his dedications to the education sector.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony in Da Nang, Prof. Dr. Yamada committed to make further efforts to nurture the traditional friendship and bilateral relations between the DNU and his university, contributing to the co-operation between Yokohama and Da Nang as well as between Vietnam and Japan in general.
