Nguyen Thi Hang's family from the Tan Luan residential area in Voi Town, Lang Giang District, was once classified as near-poor household just a few years ago.

Hang recalled that years ago, she and her husband were jobless and faced constant financial struggles.

In early 2022, she decided to borrow 100 million VND to upgrade their livestock facilities and learned to raise quails.

Initially starting with 100 pairs, the flock has been expanded as the quails began laying eggs. Currently, the family has over a thousand pairs. With prices ranging from 100,000 to 120,000 VND per pair, they sell 200 to 300 pairs monthly directly to traders.

In addition to quails, Hang's family also raises hundreds of ducks and chickens and has a fishpond.

As the family economic conditions have significantly improved, they recently inaugurated a new house surrounded by a fishpond, fruit trees, and livestock facilities.

Meanwhile, Mac Thi Vu from Duong Duc Village received a breeding cow last year, which has become a vital asset for her family. The cow has grown significantly and is expected to breed soon, which is expected to provide additional income to her family.

Thanks for favourable credit policies, all eligible poor and near-poor households have been able to secure loans for production investments over recent years. This financial support has encouraged them to engage more confidently in borrowing and responsibly manage their loans, which is key factors contributing to rapid and sustainable poverty reduction in the district.

According to Nguyen Van Long, Deputy Chairman of the District People's Committee, supporting livestock farming for impoverished families is an appropriate choice aligned with practical conditions and production experience of the locality.

He stressed that the local authorities have established clear objectives and tasks to achieve sustainable poverty reduction, while encouraging community participation and ensuring transparency in resource allocation.

By 2025, Lang Giang is set to receive an additional allocation of 4.5 billion VND for implementing the sustainable poverty reduction program. The district will focus on supporting agricultural production projects aimed at diversifying livelihoods through breeding cattle and poultry.
