The three gold medal-winning plays were ‘Vuong nu Me Linh’ (Queen in Me Linh) performed by the Hanoi Cheo Theatre, ‘Nguoi thay của muon doi’ (Eternal Teacher) by the Army Cheo Theatre and ‘Chuong ngan rung truc’ (Bell Ringing in the Bamboo Forest) by the Hai Duong provincial Cheo Theatre.
Six silver medals were presented to other outstanding plays.
The organising board also awarded gold medals to 42 individuals and silvers to 68 others. The top prizes went to Tran Dinh Van of the Vietnam Cheo Theatre (best author), Meritorious Artist Trinh Thuy Mui from the Hanoi Cheo Theatre (best director), Dao Tuan Hai (best musician) and Nguyen Hong Long (best painter), both from the Vietnam Cheo Theatre.
The 2013 National Cheo Stage Competition, which began on October 19, drew the participation of 17 theatres and art troupes around the country.
The event offered a good opportunity for Cheo artists and actors to meet and exchange experience.
