Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of the Da Nang City People’s Committee Nguyen Manh Hung stressed that DIFF 2026 reflects the city’s aspiration to present itself as a dynamic destination connecting culture, tourism, creativity and international cooperation.
Entering its 14th edition, DIFF has been named by the renowned travel magazine Travel + Leisure as one of the nine best summer festivals in the world.
DIFF 2026 brings together 10 fireworks teams from eight countries and territories, namely Viet Nam, China, Italy, Germany, Portugal, France, Japan, Macau (China), and Australia. Notably, this year’s festival features four first-time participants: Macau (China), Australia, France and Germany, promising fresh performance styles that will enrich the artistic identity of DIFF.
In 2026, DIFF not only expands the audience experience on stage but also, for the first time, offers personalised “digital gifts” powered by artificial intelligence (AI) through the Sun Paradise Land app. Visitors can turn their moments with the fireworks into vintage-style stamps and design electronic postcards to send to their loved ones.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, host team Da Nang (Viet Nam) and defending champion China entered the first competition night under the theme “Nature”.
A combination of refined techniques and powerful emotional flow helped Team Da Nang deliver one of its most distinctive performances in recent years.
Meanwhile, Team China once again demonstrated the calibre of the defending champion with its performance titled “Flower of the Orient”.
Taking place from May 30 to July 11, DIFF 2026 conveys the image of a dynamic Da Nang City, a place that connects culture, tourism, creativity and international cooperation.
The festival’s six competition nights form a journey in which Da Nang connects with the world through the themes of Nature, Heritage, Culture, Creativity, Vision and United Horizons.
