The flooding, which began on October 26, caused prolonged and severe inundation across southern communes of Quang Tri Province, with Nam Hai Lang and Dien Sanh among the hardest-hit areas. In the mountainous western communes, heavy rains triggered multiple landslides, severely affecting transportation, residents’ livelihoods, and students’ access to education.
As of the afternoon of October 31, many households in southern Quang Tri remained submerged. Livestock such as pigs and ducks were killed or washed away by the floods. According to initial local estimates, each household raising ducks suffered an average loss of around 15 million VND.
