Number of Vietnamese visitors to Japan set new record in first 11 months

The number of Vietnamese visitors to Japan in the 11 months of 2023 surpassed the record of 2019 and set the highest record ever, announced by the Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO) in Vietnam on December 20.

Accordingly, the number of Vietnamese visitors to Japan from January to November 2023 reached 536,800, surpassing the record number of 495,051 in 2019 and setting the highest record ever up to now.

The JNTO said that statistics on the number of international visitors to Japan in December will be announced in January 2024, so it is estimated that the total number of Vietnamese visitors to Japan in 2023 will increase even more.

Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Yamada Takio expressed his pleasure at the information about the number of Vietnamese visitors to Japan this year, when the two countries celebrate their 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

He also noted that many great exchange activities were held throughout this year including exchanges and meetings of high-level leaders from the two countries.

Deputy Director General of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Ha Van Sieu said Japan is one of the leading countries that Vietnamese people choose first when traveling abroad thanks to its safety, civilised and polite people and many attractive tourist products.

On the contrary, Vietnam is also one of the favorite destinations of Japanese tourists. In the first 11 months of 2023, Vietnam welcomed nearly 530,000 Japanese visitors.

Yoshida Kenji, Head of JNTO representative office in Vietnam, the office will also work with organisations and individuals in the industry to implement the Japanese Government’s three new tourism strategies, including “sustainable tourism development”, “increase in tourism consumption” and “ regional attraction” to promote tourist exchange between the two countries.
