The excavation uncovered eight sets of remains, seven of which were found with associated artefacts. Since the search began on June 23, a total of 168 sets of martyrs' remains have been recovered.
Five search teams are currently operating at the site, including personnel from the Ho Chi Minh City High Command and four reinforcement teams—K70, K71, K72 and K73—from Military Region 7.
They are supported by specialists from the University of Science and the University of Technology under the Viet Nam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, as well as eyewitnesses, bringing the total number of personnel involved to 210.
The Ho Chi Minh City High Command is coordinating with the construction contractor to relocate the memorial stele in the search area while continuing excavation in Area A.
Nguyen Manh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and head of the city's Steering Committee 515, said that the search, recovery and identification of martyrs' remains is a particularly important, long-term political task of the city's Party organisation, authorities, armed forces and people.
He affirmed that the search would continue until all remaining martyrs' remains are located and recovered, adding that the experience gained from the Le Thi Rieng Park operation would support similar missions in the future.
