The event was attended by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court Nguyen Hoa Binh, leaders of central ministries, department and branches, Hai Phong officials and a large crowd of visitors and local citizens.
In his opening speech, Chairman of the Hai Phong municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Van Tung reviewed the glorious tradition of the Hai Phong people and land throughout history and highlighted the city’s outstanding socio-economic achievements over recent times.
In the last few years, Hai Phong has risen to become one of the country’s development centres and is currently an attractive destination for investors from both at home and abroad, he said, noting that the city is striving to successfully implement the Politburo’s Resolution No. 45 on constructing and developing Hai Phong city until 2030, with a vision to 2045.
The opening remarks were followed by a unique art programme, entitled “Hai Phong – Successful Destination”, which honoured the glorious historical tradition and strong development of Hai Phong over the years.
The four-day festival features more than 60 economic, cultural, sporting and tourism activities aiming to entertain tourists in the city. An exhibition showcasing books and press publications to celebrate 64 years of Hai Phong liberation and the eighth Red Flamboyant Flower Festival will also be held, alongside a symposium on 50 years of Hai Phong implementing President Ho Chi Minh’s Testament.
