The event was organised by the National Institute of Haematology and Blood Transfusion, in collaboration with the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, VTVCorp Joint Stock Company, blood transfusion centres, and Red Cross Societies from 49 provinces and cities nationwide.
Binh Dinh is proud to be one of the stops on the 2025 Red Journey, continuing its 11-year tradition of participation from 2013 to 2024, during which over 17,500 blood units were collected—making a significant contribution to emergency care and medical treatment across the country.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ha Van Cat, Chairman of the Red Cross Society’s Binh Dinh branch, emphasised that the Red Journey is a large-scale, nationwide voluntary blood donation campaign with profound humanitarian and philanthropic significance. He stressed the importance of mobilising social engagement in blood donation efforts.
The campaign also aims to raise awareness about the prevention and treatment of thalassaemia while carrying out local humanitarian social initiatives.
In 2024, Binh Dinh province collected nearly 22,000 blood units, with 1.43% of its population participating in donation efforts.
At the opening ceremony, 87 individuals and families who had donated blood 20 times or more were awarded certificates of merit from the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation and the Provincial People’s Committee.
Under the 2025 campaign, Binh Dinh will host three blood donation events in Quy Nhon City, Hoai An district, and Vinh Thanh district from 13 to 15 June, with a target of collecting 800 blood units in total.
Additionally, organisers will visit and present gifts to patients suffering from severe blood disorders.
