The event formed part of the Global Business and Innovation Connection 2026 (GBIC), held from March 13 to 17, and served as an important forum to connect and mobilise Vietnamese intellectual resources worldwide to contribute to the country’s science and technology development.
The event attracted more than 90 Vietnamese experts, scientists, entrepreneurs, and engineers working at universities, research institutes, and leading technology corporations in the US. Many participants currently hold senior technical and management positions at major universities and technology companies, including Le Viet Quoc (Google), Le Minh Thong (Tesla), Nguyen Viet Hung (University of California, Berkeley), and Christopher Nguyen (AI Alliance), along with a number of technology startup founders and representatives of investment funds in Silicon Valley.
As a key activity of the GBIC organised by NIC in the US, the event also saw the participation of leaders from several major Vietnamese enterprises and universities, including Viglacera, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Sun Group, Azurich Fund, and Viet Nam Post.
Within the framework of the programme, the delegation held working sessions with leading corporations and research centres in Silicon Valley such as NVIDIA, Meta, OpenAI, Marvell, and Stanford University, opening up opportunities for cooperation in research, training, and technology development in areas including artificial intelligence, semiconductors, cloud computing, big data, quantum technology, robotics, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
Viet Nam is currently accelerating the implementation of major policies on science and technology development, innovation, and national digital transformation, particularly Resolution No.57-NQ/TW of the Politburo and Decision No.1131/QD-TTg issued by the Prime Minister on the list of strategic technologies and strategic technology products.
On this occasion, Vo Xuan Hoai, Deputy Director of the NIC, emphasised that strengthening connections with Vietnamese experts, intellectuals, and entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley holds particular significance for the development of science, technology, and innovation in Viet Nam.
According to Hoai, effectively mobilising the intellectual resources of overseas Vietnamese communities is a key factor in enhancing domestic technological capacity and promoting the development of the country’s strategic technology industries.
During the seminar, experts also shared experiences and proposed various cooperation models between Viet Nam and the US in strategic technology sectors. Discussions focused on strengthening connections between the Viet Nam–US innovation ecosystems, promoting the commercialisation of research outcomes, developing high-quality technology human resources, and forming practical cooperation projects among enterprises, universities, and research institutions of the two countries.
Participants also proposed initiatives to position Viet Nam as a preferred destination for global technology leaders and investors, including figures such as Elon Musk and Jensen Huang. In addition, a project aimed at bringing together 100 outstanding Vietnamese technology talents worldwide is expected to be launched in October 2026.
Speaking at the event, Dr Le Viet Quoc, a leading expert at Google, noted that artificial intelligence is creating opportunities for Viet Nam to address key development challenges and achieve breakthroughs in strategic technology sectors. He pledged to connect and encourage around 100 leading global technology experts of Vietnamese origin to contribute to Viet Nam’s innovation ecosystem.
Meanwhile, Le Duc Trung, Deputy Consul General of Viet Nam in San Francisco, affirmed that the Consulate General will continue to support activities connecting science, technology, innovation, and high-tech investment between Viet Nam and the US, thereby promoting substantive cooperation within the framework of the Viet Nam–US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, particularly in emerging technologies.
The Vietnamese Innovation Network and Experts initiative has been entrusted to the NIC by the Ministry of Finance to help implement the Party and State’s policies on attracting and valuing talent, acquiring global technological achievements, and maximising the intellectual resources of the Vietnamese people, including overseas Vietnamese experts and scholars. Established in 2018, the network currently spans more than 22 countries and territories, with over 2,500 members comprising experts, scientists, and chief engineers in key industries. In addition to the 10 innovation networks operating abroad, NIC is also supporting five innovation networks focused on strategic technology industries, in line with the orientations set out in the Politburo's Resolutions No.57 and No.68, aimed at addressing major development challenges facing the country.
