Politburo member Vo Van Thuong attended a cultural event and presented Tet gifts to poor people and border guards in the remote district of A Luoi in Thua Thien Hue Province on January 8.
Thuong, who is also a permanent member of the Secretariat, inquired about the local residents and expressed his hope that the gifts will help reduce their difficulty and help them enjoy the Lunar New Year (Tet) in a warm atmosphere.
In the afternoon, the senior Party official paid a visit to the Hong Van Border Station, where he extended Tet greetings to the local government, people and students as well as the forces protecting the Vietnam-Laos border.
Thuong spoke highly of the border soldiers’ efforts, along with those of the local authorities and residents, to firmly safeguard the national border and security.
On the same day, Minister of Defence Phan Van Giang paid a Tet visit to soldiers and officers of the 7th Military Region headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City.
While extending wishes of health and happiness to the military region’s members, Giang asked them to continue upholding the fine qualities of Uncle Ho’s Soldiers and make greater efforts to successfully realise all missions.
At the same time, Politburo member and Director of the Ho Chi Minh Academy of Politics Nguyen Xuan Thang visited and presented Tet gifts to poor people and policy beneficiaries in the northern mountainous province of Dien Bien.
