The 13 villages included Thu Le, Van Phuc, Kim Ma, Ngoc Khanh, Lieu Giai, Cong Vi, Cong Yen, Vinh Phuc, Xuan Bieu, Ngoc Ha, Huu Tiep, Dai Yen, and Giang Vo. The remaining village was Hao Nam in Dong Da district. |
Thap Tam Trai festival is held annually to commemorate Nguyen Quy Cong, a mandarin under the Ly dynasty. |
It is said that Nguyen Quy Cong was born in 1026 in Le Mat village, now in Viet Hung ward, Long Bien province. |
With outstanding physical strength and intelligence, he became a mandarin under the reign of King Ly Thai Tong (1028 – 1054). |
He had significant contributions to reclaiming the west of Thang Long citadel, creating a rich agricultural area, which was then named ‘Thap Tam Trai’. |
He passed away in 1119 at the age of 93. His death anniversary is observed on the 23rd day of the third lunar month every year. |
