On the occasion, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities was honoured to receive congratulatory letters and flower baskets from General Secretary To Lam as well as flower baskets from President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long affirmed that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a higher education institution with a long-standing history, the birthplace of many of Viet Nam’s first modern social sciences and humanities disciplines. It has laid the foundation for other fields of study to develop and has gradually affirmed its position in academic life at home, in the region, and globally.

On behalf of the government and the prime minister, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long praised and congratulated generations of teachers and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for their achievements, contributing practically to the national development.

The deputy prime minister emphasised that in the country’s new development phase, as a leading centre for social sciences and humanities, the university must continue to take the lead in basic research and training, preserve and develop foundational cultural values, and open new approaches in training, research, and policy consultation.

He requested the university to continue strongly innovating its training and professional development models, fostering connections between basic sciences and applied sciences; developing specialised and interdisciplinary programmes, both formal and short-term; and training individuals with strong political integrity, deep scientific thinking, and effective practical competence.

In addition, the university must strengthen high-quality scientific research, especially studies of theoretical and practical value that directly serve the formulation of the Party and state’s guidelines and policies. It should proactively participate in strategic consultation in the fields of culture, society, education, communications, social governance, and people-to-people diplomacy, contributing to firmly safeguarding the ideological foundation of the Party and guiding public opinion.

The university must actively participate in developing and implementing the Party Central Committee’s resolutions on culture and education; foster national values, family values, and the values of the Vietnamese people; and proactively provide advice on cultural policies so that culture may truly become an endogenous strength as well as a driving force for the country’s sustainable development.

The university should also continue promoting its pioneering role in humanistic digital transformation. At the same time, it needs to proactively integrate internationally to become a prestigious address for global academic cooperation on the principle of preserving national identity while actively absorbing global knowledge and spreading Vietnamese intellect to the world.

On behalf of the Party and state leaders, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long awarded the First-Class Labour Order to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Viet Nam National University, Ha Noi) for its outstanding achievements in training human resources and conducting scientific research, contributing to the cause of building socialism and safeguarding the homeland.

The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a key intellectual pillar in human development strategy, preserving cultural values, and affirming its role as a centre of culture, knowledge, science, technology, and innovation for the capital city and the nation.

In the address by Professor, Doctor Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the university is preparing to issue its Development Strategy to 2035 with a vision to 2045, focusing on five priority tasks.
