A Memorandum of Understanding on the project was signed between the Ministry of Transport’s Vietnam Inland Waterways Administration and Aus4transport on July 17.

The project, which will be carried out over 18 months, will review the existing information technology software of the Vietnam Inland Waterways Administration to convert it into an integrated information management system.

The new system is also expected to assist the Vietnam Inland Waterways Administration in specialised management, evaluation and planning, and making decisions on investment in national and provincial waterways projects.

The Ho Chi Minh City - Can Tho waterway has been selected to pilot the collection and update of data and will be managed under the new system.

Aus4transport is an Australian Government initiative to support the Government of Vietnam in developing high-quality transport infrastructure in the 2017-2022 period with a total fund of AUD30 million.
