British Council Director receives medal

Nhan Dan Online - Director of the British Council Vietnam Robin Rickard was presented with the highest medal for education on June 19 for his contributions to education in Vietnam during his four-year mission in the country.

The presentation of the award also marked the 20th anniversary of the British Council branch in Vietnam.

Rickard was honoured for building and developing diverse co-operative links with educational institutions, businesses, and international organisations to support Vietnam’s education and development priorities.

He has also made significant contributions to realising the Party Central Committee’s project on teaching the English language to more than 1,600 key officials in preparation for training courses and professional development abroad.

Rickard played a key role in establishing the Vietnam – UK International Standard University in Da Nang city in partnership with Aston University and Rolls-Royce Vietnam.

In addition, he also pioneered the initiative to set up a network of universities in Vietnam and the UK and helped Vietnam become known among global education.

After completing his mission in Vietnam, Rickard will become the Director of the British Council in Jordan.
