In his opening remarks, Andrés Alejandro Meza Álamos, Chargé d’affaires of the Chilean Embassy in Viet Nam and Laos, emphasised: “Chile is a South American nation known as ‘the place where the world begins’. Our unique geography makes Chile unlike any other country in the world. Stretching 4,300 kilometres from north to south and boasting more than 6,500 kilometres of coastline, Chile is home to around 20 million people. The diversity of its seven distinct climate zones allows Chile to produce a wide variety of foods that meet world-class standards.”

Introducing Chile’s premium pork products, Juan Carlos Dominguez Covarrubias, President of ChileCarne — the Chilean Meat Exporters’ Association, affirmed: “Ninety-five percent of our pork production fully complies with the Chile Origen Consciente sustainability standard, the criteria and indicators of which are aligned with the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2030. In pork production, a vertically integrated model, comprehensive traceability, and strict biosecurity standards ensure quality and supply stability — including the Chilean pork we are proud to present in Viet Nam today.”

Chilean pork producers and exporters operate under three core pillars in animal production: biosecurity, food safety, and sustainability.

Chilean pork is produced according to the highest standards of hygiene and food safety. Each exporting company follows a unique vertically integrated production model, allowing full control over the entire process — from animal feed, breeding, and slaughtering to processing and commercial distribution. This model guarantees 100% traceability at every stage while maintaining a stable supply to serve markets across Chile and around the world.

The development of Chile’s pork industry is grounded in a circular economy, with strong investment in advanced technologies that enable production growth without affecting natural resources.

Asia remains the leading export market, accounting for 73% of the total value, with Japan, the Republic of Korea, and China being the three largest destinations.

Chile has firmly established its position in the global food export industry. Of the country’s more than 100 billion USD in exports, 23% comes from food products, particularly fresh fruit, salmon, wine, poultry, and pork.

Every day, people around the world enjoy the finest Chilean products: 82 million savour Chilean fruits, 10 million enjoy dishes made with Chilean salmon, 12 million include Chilean pork in their meals, and 23 million glasses are filled with Chile’s exquisite wines.
