According to the decision, the National Steering Committee for Semiconductor Industry Development has been consolidated on the basis of the body established under Decision No.791/QD-TTg, dated August 5, 2024, of the Prime Minister.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung has been assigned as Head of the Steering Committee. The two Deputy Heads of the Steering Committee are Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung (Permanent Deputy Head of the Steering Committee), and Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang.
The members of the Steering Committee include: Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui Hoang Phuong; Deputy Minister of Finance Nguyen Duc Tam; Deputy Head of the Government Office Pham Manh Cuong; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang; Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc; Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Truong Thanh Hoai; Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Quy Kien; Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh; and Deputy Minister of Justice Nguyen Thanh Tu.
The Ministry of Science and Technology is the standing body of the Steering Committee, using the existing apparatus to organise the implementation of tasks assigned by the Steering Committee.
The Steering Committee is an inter-sectoral organisation with the function of assisting the Prime Minister in researching and directing the resolution of important, inter-sectoral tasks related to promoting the development of the semiconductor industry in Viet Nam.
The task of the Steering Committee is to research, advise, recommend, and propose directions and solutions to promote the development of the semiconductor industry in Viet Nam. It also directs and coordinates efforts amond relevant ministries, agencies, and organisations to foster this sector’s growth.
