On February22, the last day of the break, Noi Bai International Airport handled more than 124,500 passengers and 702 take-offs and landings, surpassing earlier forecasts. The total included over 48,800 international and 75,700 domestic travellers, across 317 international and 385 domestic flights.
In the seven days before Tet (February 10–16), the airport served more than 725,000 passengers on nearly 4,500 flights, up 16% and 12.5% year on year respectively. In the post-holiday period, it handled nearly 737,300 passengers and 4,530 flights, increases of 12% and 15.8%.
Meanwhile, Tan Son Nhat International Airport recorded a decade-high throughput during the nine-day holiday, with 177,859 passengers on 1,069 flights. The temporary transfer of several carriers to the new T3 terminal helped ease pressure on Terminal 1, mitigating the chronic overcrowding often seen during Tet.
At key gateways to Ho Chi Minh City and Ha Noi, traffic built up on the afternoon of February 22, particularly on expressways and ring roads. However, traffic police deployed full staffing, implemented remote traffic diversion plans and coordinated closely with relevant agencies to prevent prolonged gridlock.
Official data show road accidents during the eight-day Tet holiday fell sharply compared with 2025, down nearly 29.5% in cases, with fatalities and injuries also significantly reduced. Nevertheless, authorities warned that serious incidents and drink-driving violations remain a concern, underscoring the need for continued vigilance.
