“Hue – New Perspectives” photo contest announces 11 winning works

Eleven best works of the “Hue – New Perspectives” photo contest were honoured at an award ceremony, held by the Thua Thien Hue Union of Literature and Arts Associations in Hue on September 17.

This year’s contest received 1,315 entries by 138 authors from 28 provinces across the country. The organising board selected 11 best works to present prizes and 98 works by 55 authors, to be showcased at a photo exhibition held during the ceremony.

The first-place prize was presented to the work entitled ‘Net dam pha’ (The lagoon) by Le Tan Thanh, while the two second-place prizes went to ‘Mot goc dam Lap An’ (A corner of Lap An lagoon) by Tran Minh Tri and ‘Di sản’ (Legacy) by Le Tan Thanh.

The photo contest aims to promote the image of Thua Thien Hue to domestic and international tourists. The entries are works created in Thua Thien Hue province, about achievements in socio-economic development, security and defence. Works also reflect folk festivals, culinary culture, traditional craft villages, landscapes, historical sites, tangible and intangible cultural heritages, tourist attractions, architectural works, beautiful moments in life, as well as the customs and habits of the people.

Chairman of Thua Thien Hue Union of Literature and Arts Associations Ho Dang Thanh Ngoc, said “The works selected to be exhibited and awarded this time are in the category of single photos with ideological values, humanity and high aesthetics, creating a visual impression. The photos also follow the theme of preserving and promoting the identity of the land with rich culture, economic and tourism potentials.”

The exhibition, which is taking place at the headquarters of Thua Thien Hue Union of Literature and Arts Associations, will last until September 22.
