According to the National Statistics Office under the Ministry of Finance, Viet Nam welcomed 1.73 million international visitors in October, up 13.8% from the previous month and 22.1% year on year. Overall, in the first ten months of 2025, international arrivals reached nearly 17.2 million, an increase of 21.5% compared with the same period of 2024.
In 2025, Viet Nam’s tourism sector has set a target of welcoming 22–23 million international arrivals, based on the strong recovery momentum in 2024, when arrivals reached 17.6 million, almost matching pre-pandemic levels. Earlier, in August, the Government issued Resolution No. 226/NQ-CP on growth targets for sectors, fields, localities, and key tasks and solutions to ensure national economic growth of 8.3–8.5% in 2025. For the tourism sector, the Government assigned a goal of welcoming at least 25 million international visitors for the whole year.
According to tourism experts, with this growth momentum, 2025 will be the year the Vietnamese tourism industry sets a new record in the number of visitors, surpassing the 18 million arrivals of the golden year 2019. However, achieving the year’s target is a “major challenge,” as the sector must attract an additional 4.7–5.7 million visitors in November and December, equivalent to 2.35–2.85 million visitors per month.
Statistics show that 1.73 million international arrivals in October is a record high. However, experts warn that to meet the overall growth target for the whole year, the sudden increase to over 2.8 million visitors per month for two consecutive months as estimated earlier, would be unprecedented and could place considerable pressure on tourism infrastructure and workforce capacity.
