Speaking at the opening of the event, Nguyen Thi Tuyen, Member of the Party Central Committee and President of the Viet Nam Women's Union, emphasised that the conference is not only an opportunity to look back and be proud of tradition, but also a scientific forum to analyse, explain, and clarify the role and mission of the press in the country's development, including the task of enhancing economic, political, cultural and social power for women in the context of global integration and digital transformation.

Over the past century, female journalists and the female press have not only fulfilled the glorious mission of revolutionary journalism, but also become a special media force in protecting the legitimate and legal rights of women, promoting gender equality and inspiring society at-large about the progress of women.

“Female journalists, who hold pens and guns, on the front lines or on the media front in peacetime, have been important witnesses and subjects of the cause of revolutionary press,” she said.

Journalist Tran Thi Kim Hoa, former Director of the Viet Nam Press Museum and Permanent Member of the Advisory Council of the Viet Nam Press Museum, stated that the history of Vietnamese press in the early 20th century recorded women’s images and positions not only as subjects and characters reflected, but also as creators and shapers of media content via the rich and vivid evidences throughout the history of national journalism.

In the early 20th century, publications founded and run by women themselves appeared. This marked the foundation for gender-based journalism, where women were no longer merely spoken about, but began to raise their own voices.

At the conference, delegates discussed two main topics: "Vietnamese revolutionary press: 100 years accompanying the women's movement" and "Revolutionary press with women’s mission in the era of the Vietnamese nation's rise".

These discussions focused on analysing the historical role of the press in supporting women’s movements from the resistance war periods to the periods of renovation and integration. The women’s press has flourished, expressing women’s aspirations and affirming their leadership, creativity, and contributions across various fields.

In addition, the conference also shed light on the new role of the press in inspiring and encouraging women to continue their mission of national innovation and development in the digital globalization age. Delegates also identified the opportunities and challenges female journalists and the women’s press have to face in the current digital era.
