The event was organised by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in coordination with the Viet Nam Journalists’ Association, under the National programme on economical and efficient use of energy for the 2019–2030 period.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long emphasised that 2025 marks an important milestone for Viet Nam’s energy sector, with the National Assembly passing Law No. 77/2025/QH15, amending the Law on Economical and Efficient Use of Energy.
As Viet Nam moves towards its goal of net-zero emissions by 2050, energy saving is considered a key, cost-effective solution for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening competitiveness and ensuring national energy security. He highlighted the crucial role of the press in bridging policy and public awareness, inspiring collective action towards a greener future.
Vice Chairman of the Viet Nam Journalists’ Association Tran Trong Dung noted that despite the specialised nature of the topic, this year’s competition attracted hundreds of submissions across print, online, radio, television and video formats. The Judges’ Council praised the diversity and depth of the entries, many of which showcased exemplary models, innovative solutions and practical initiatives in energy efficiency, while also addressing challenges and suggesting future policy directions.
From 477 submissions, 74 were shortlisted for the final round, and 40 outstanding works received awards. These included prizes across print, online, radio, television and video categories, with Nhan Dan Newspaper winning the Special Prize in the online journalism category.
