The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs jointly opened the photo exhibition at Lam Son Park, on August 22, marking the 80th anniversary of Viet Nam’s diplomatic service (August 28, 1945 – 2025) and the 50th anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of External Relations (1975–2025).

The exhibition presents to the public a collection of 80 colour and black-and-white documentary photographs capturing historic milestones and outstanding achievements of Vietnamese diplomacy over eight decades, as well as major political and external relations events in Ho Chi Minh City during 50 years of development.

It also outlines images of Viet Nam’s pursuit of an independent and self-reliant foreign policy, with multilateralisation and diversification of international relations; its proactive and active efforts in comprehensive and deep international integration; and its role as a friend, reliable partner and responsible member of the international community.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Nguyen Van Duoc congratulated the diplomatic service on the honour and pride of being founded, guided and nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh – the great leader of the Vietnamese revolution and a distinguished statesman of world diplomacy, who also served as the country’s first Minister of Foreign Affairs.

He affirmed that over the past 80 years, under the direct and comprehensive leadership of the Communist Party, Vietnamese diplomacy has accompanied the nation through every stage of history, continuously upholding its proud tradition of serving the Fatherland and the people, and contributing to the great victories of the Party and the entire nation.
