On the evening of August 31, at the Viet Nam Exposition Centre (Dong Anh, Ha Noi), the Municipal Party Committee and People’s Committee of Ha Noi held a special art programme entitled “Ha Noi – Shining with Viet Nam’s Eternal Aspiration” to mark the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day.
The programme was a cultural and artistic highlight within the framework of the Exhibition on Socio-Economic Achievements and a series of events commemorating the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2), contributing to honouring the outstanding achievements that the nation and the capital city of Ha Noi have attained over the past 80 years.
The programme opened with the sound of ceremonial drums accompanied by images evoking the heroic atmosphere of Thang Long–Ha Noi’s history, from King Ly Thai To’s decision to establish the capital in Thang Long, to King Le Thai To’s liberation of Dong Quan citadel, and then Ha Noi’s transition into the modern era.
The programme consisted of three chapters.
Chapter One, entitled “Ha Noi: Day, Month, Year”, depicted the historic moment of September 2, 1945 and the role of the capital Ha Noi in the struggle for independence and national reunification, a heroic chapter of history imbued with the love and devotion of Ha Noi’s people.
Chapter Two, “Ha Noi through One’s Eyes”, showcased the outstanding achievements in the economic, social, cultural, educational and scientific development of the capital city over 80 years of accompanying the nation.
Chapter Three, “Viet Nam: A New Day”, recreated the image of a dynamic, modern, and integrated capital, demonstrating the determination to build Ha Noi as “Civilised–Advanced–Modern”, contributing to a prosperous and happy Viet Nam.
Audiences experienced a wide range of emotions as the historical story of Ha Noi, from war to peace, and the capital’s aspirations for growth, were presented through an interweaving of heroic songs and profound melodies imbued with the elegance and heroism of Ha Noi.
In addition, there were numerous performances reflecting the proud cultural and scholarly traditions of the thousand-year-old land of Thang Long, as well as creative fusions between traditional folk melodies such as cheo and xam and modern music.
With the participation of famous artists, the programme offered a harmonious combination of various distinctive art forms: music, dance, theatrical performances, 3D mapping projections, modern laser effects, a multi-layered stage, and historical documentary images.
“Ha Noi – Shining with Viet Nam’s Eternal Aspiration” was not only a unique art performance but also a spiritual symbol of Ha Noi — a city rich in cultural identity, embodying courage, intellect, integration and humanity. Together with the nation, it steps into a new era, serving as a meaningful gift from Ha Noi to the public on the occasion of the country’s major anniversaries.
