Spirit of unity promoted through public dance “Hand in Hand”

The Viet Nam Dance Artists’ Association announced the launch of the public dance promotion programme “Hand in Hand” on October 28. More than simply showcasing the beauty of dance, this dance conveys a message of solidarity and unity for a prosperous and happy Viet Nam.

Speaking at the event, choreographer Tuyet Minh, Standing Deputy Head of the Viet Nam Dance Artists’ Association, shared that “Hand in Hand” is a dance closely associated with the brand of Viet Nam Dance Week. Two years ago, during Viet Nam Dance Week 2023, the first version of the public dance “Hand in Hand” was performed by hundreds of dancers, choreographers, and actors from many generations, with the aim of creating a simple dance but a strong influence on the public, affirming the beauty and connectivity of Vietnamese dance art.

At that time, this dance created a strong impression in the dancers’ community, with many short videos (3-5 minutes) from dance associations and artists participating in the competition. Many of these videos not only showcased the beauty of dance but also promoted the charm of Viet Nam’s scenic landscapes and cultural heritage, winning prizes from the organising board.

In 2025, as part of efforts to develop new versions of “Hand in Hand” and affirm the accompany of Vietnamese dance art with the nation’s ongoing growth and integration, the Viet Nam Dance Artists’ Association produced a new video titled “Hand in Hand – Shining Future.” This version appeals more to young audiences, showcasing the beauty of many types of dance, combining folk dance, European classical, contemporary, hip-hop, neoclassical, and Broadway syles.

On the soundtrack of the song “Hand in Hand,” the video takes audiences to many regions across the country — from the northern mountainous region to the central region, the Central Highlands, the South — exploring the cultural life of the Tay, Mong, Dao, Thai, Khmer ethnic groups as well as highlighting national development in modern urban centres such as Ha Noi, Hai Phong, and Quang Ninh, and showcasing the beauty of renowned heritage sites.

The video features the participation of many talented young dancers who have won top prizes at national dance competitions and are now active performers, choreographers, and instructors contributing to major artistic projects, including Vu Hue, Quang Viet, Quang Anh, Quang Dat, Ha Trang, Van Quang, Thien An, Sinh Quan, Hoai Linh, Minh Hai, Yen Nhi, and Hieu Lam.

According to the promotional campaign for “Hand in Hand,” immediately after the release of “Hand in Hand – Shining Future,” 38 local chapters of the Viet Nam Dance Artists’ Association nationwide will launch a Video Reels Challenge, calling upon their members, groups, and dancers to record and submit their own “Hand in Hand” dance videos of under 1 minute 30 seconds.

Entries must meet criteria such as originality of imagery; strong artistic expression; skilled performance highlighting the beauty of dance; promotion of local landscapes and heritage; demonstration of national solidarity; participation across age and ethnic groups; and strong audience engagement.

Videos will be posted on the official fanpage of the event and social networks to connect with the public and spread the dance. Submissions will be accepted from November 16 to December 16, 2025, via the email address: vietnamdanceweek@gmail.com. The best videos will be honoured at an award ceremony on December 16, 2025.

This activity serves as a key highlight of Viet Nam Dance Week 2025. The submitted videos will also contribute valuable material to refine “Hand in Hand,” supporting the vision of establishing a distinctive public dance for Viet Nam.
