Located in An Thuong village, An Thanh commune, the temple was constructed in 2001 to pay tribute to Tang Bat Ho for his contributions to the national liberation struggle against French invaders.
The renovation of the temple started in September 2012 and cost of more than VND 5 billion (US$230,000) to complete. The money was used to expand tenfold the temple in its area, upgraded its worshipping places and beautified its landscape and surrounding sites.
At the inauguration ceremony, the Hoai An district People’s Committee received a certificate honouring the temple as a national historical site under a decision of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Tang Bat Ho (1858 – 1906) was born to a family with rich tradition of patriotism. Throughout his life, he sought to expel the French colonialism and bring back liberation for his country by participating in a number of patriotic movements, including Can Vuong (loyalty to the King) and Dong Du (Journey to eastern countries).
