The film week is jointly organised by the Viet Nam Association of Film Promotion and Development and the Centre for Scientific and Cultural Activities of the Temple of Literature-Quoc Tu Giam.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vu Thu Ha, member of the Ha Noi Party Committee and Vice Chairwoman of the Ha Noi People's Committee, said that one of many practical activities launched by the city to mark the 950th anniversary of the founding of Quoc Tu Giam (1076-2026) was the "Today's Talents" short film competition, organised by the Ha Noi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Viet Nam Association of Film Promotion and Development. The award-winning works from the competition being screened at the “Thang Long's Talents and Spirit” film week will bring audiences stories about teachers, the tradition of learning, and historical talents and the culture of Thang Long-Ha Noi, retold through artistic language and the emotions of today's era.
“When heritage meets cinema, technology and human creativity, the values of the past are transformed into new works, new cultural products and new experiences bearing the distinctive mark of the capital,” the Vice Chairwoman of the Ha Noi People's Committee affirmed.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, Chairwoman of the Viet Nam Association of Film Promotion and Development, said that the “Thang Long's Talents and Spirit” film week was organised with the desire to promote the tradition of respecting teachers and learning, as well as honouring and promoting the strength of talented people and the spirit of Thang Long in protecting and building the country.
She said the film week introduces films spanning the development of Vietnamese cinema, including classic works that received the highest awards at international and Vietnamese film festivals, and six short films that won top prizes in the "Today's Talents" short film competition. These works explore history, learning, teachers, youth, and the memories of Thang Long-Ha Noi.
During the programme, 16 screenings are being organised at two venues, including 10 screenings at the National Cinema Centre and the remaining at Ngoc Khanh Cinema.
In addition to screenings at Ngoc Khanh Cinema, the six award-winning works from the "Today's Talents" short film competition have also been delivered to the Centre for Scientific and Cultural Activities of the Temple of Literature-Quoc Tu Giam, allowing the centre to arrange suitable screenings and thereby expand public access to the works.
In particular, the film week also features exchanges between audiences and artists, directors and representatives of several film crews, as well as a meeting with short-film crews as part of the closing programme.
