“Viet Nam Days” in Baku foster friendship between Viet Nam and Azerbaijan

The third “Viet Nam Days” was held in Baku from July 26-29 by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Viet Nam. The fact that 2025 is the Year of Strategic Partnership between the two countries gave special importance to the event. Numerous guests from Viet Nam - musicians, artists, writers, scientists, businessmen and officials - visited Baku to participate in the events.

The events began on July 26, 2025 with the visit of the Vietnamese delegation to the Memorial Room of President Ho Chi Minh, at the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University.

The opening of the room took place during the state visit of the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, To Lam, to Azerbaijan on May 7-8, 2025, with the support of the Vietnamese company PetroVietNam and SOCAR.

The opening ceremony of the “Viet Nam Days” - a concert and culinary programme - was held at Maiden Tower Square in the centre of Baku, in Icheri Sheher. During the day, guests were treated to traditional Vietnamese tea and coffee tasting, works of Vietnamese artists and gifts.

In the evening, the official opening ceremony of the “Viet Nam Days” was held in the square in front of Maiden Tower, jointly organised by the Embassy of Azerbaijan, the Administration of State Historical-Architectural Reserve "Icheri Sheher" and the Ha Noi College of Commerce and Tourism.

The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov, Deputy Minister of Energy Orkhan Zeynalov, Head of the Working Group on Azerbaijan-Viet Nam Interparliamentary Relations, Hijran Huseynova, other members of the group, MPs, President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Isa Habibbeyli and Head of the Administration of State Historical-Architectural Reserve “Icheri Sheher” Rufat Mahmud, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Viet Nam, as well as residents of the city and foreign guests.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Administration of State Historical-Architectural Reserve "Icheri Sheher", Rufat Mahmud, stated that this event, which was implemented with the initiative of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Viet Nam, brought together two ancient Eastern cultures.

Rufat Mahmud emphasised that the “Viet Nam Days” held for the third time played an important role in the development of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

The head of the Vietnamese delegation, Rector of the Ha Noi College of Commerce and Tourism Trinh Thi Thu Ha, and Director of the Vietnamese Institute of Policy Management and Development Strategy (IPADS) Le Nguyen Thien Nga, stated in their speeches that this event, held in the year of the announcement of the Strategic Partnership, aims to further strengthen the bridge of friendship and cooperation between Azerbaijan and Viet Nam.

After the opening ceremony, the presentation of the Vietnamese national costume Ao Dai was held, a concert was held with the participation of famous Vietnamese performers Nguyen Dinh Hao, Ngo Huong Diep, Phan Thi Minh Chau and People's Artist Fidan Hajiyeva, and delicious samples of Vietnamese cuisine were presented to the visitors.

During their stay in Baku, the guests visited various institutions of Azerbaijan - the Heydar Aliyev Centre, Azerbaijan State Television, the National Academy of Sciences, the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations (ASAN Service), the Centre for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication, the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, the Centre of Analysis of International Relations, and the Nizami Ganjavi International Centre, where they held familiarisation meetings and laid the foundation for cooperation.

On the last evening of the “Viet Nam Days”, a banquet was hosted for the guests and participants on behalf of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani co-chairman of the “Azerbaijan-Viet Nam Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Trade, Scientific and Technical Cooperation” Parviz Shahbazov.

The organisation of the “Vietnam Days” was also strongly supported by the Vietnamese companies PetroVietNam and “ROX Group”. The event was widely covered in most Azerbaijani mass media and social networks.
