During talks with Korean Vice Minister of Employment and Labour Son Pil Hun, both sides highly valued the results of cooperation in recent years.
They noted that Viet Nam currently ranks first in the number of workers participating in the Employment Permit System (EPS), while the rate of illegal residence has dropped to about 19%, surpassing the set target.
The two ministries agreed to strengthen coordination to improve the implementation of the memorandum of understanding, focusing on several measures, including increasing labour reception quotas and expanding Korean language tests.
Other measures include broadening occupational categories to cover basic industrial sectors, supporting workers’ integration, and intensifying inspections to ensure their legitimate rights and interests regarding accommodation and working conditions.
On the same day, Deputy Minister Vu Chien Thang met with Lee Woo Young, President of HRD Korea, and witnessed the signing of a service commitment agreement between HRD Korea and Viet Nam’s Centre of Overseas Labour (COLAB).
In the afternoon, the delegation held a working session with the Ministry of Justice.
The two sides discussed administrative reform, integration policies, and foreign labour management, reaching consensus on several matters, including expanding the seasonal worker programme, cooperating to reduce illegal residence and facilitate voluntary repatriation, as well as studying a pilot programme for nursing workers.
