The event was attended by Phan Van Hung, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper and Chairman of the Viet Nam Seed Fund; leaders of the Tuyen Quang Provincial People’s Council; and representatives of the provincial Department of Education and Training; along with sponsors, families, and the first-year students receiving the scholarships.
The “Viet Nam Seed” scholarship project has been implemented since 2024 by the Viet Nam Seed Fund, Nhan Dan Newspaper, and Techcombank — the founding sponsor. To date, 1.5 billion VND in scholarships has been awarded across six disadvantaged border provinces: Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Tuyen Quang (formerly part of Ha Giang), Lao Cai, Cao Bang, and Lang Son. The project is conducted annually in two provinces.
Speaking at the ceremony, Phan Van Hung stated that the Viet Nam Seed Fund is a social fund developed by Nhan Dan Newspaper. Its mission is to support individuals with outstanding academic achievements; award scholarships and prizes to students excelling in national and international competitions; assist talented teachers and students; support disadvantaged pupils; and fund the construction of cultural, educational, and vocational training facilities of high quality.
Over 13 years of operation, the Viet Nam Seed Fund has provided hundreds of charity houses and savings books to policy beneficiary families, revolutionary contributors, households affected by natural disasters, and those facing particularly difficult circumstances in many provinces nationwide. The fund has also awarded nearly 3,000 scholarships to underprivileged but studious pupils and students.
This year’s scholarship presentation in Tuyen Quang once again underscores the profound humanitarian significance of the Viet Nam Seed Fund. It offers timely encouragement to disadvantaged first-year students, particularly those from ethnic minority groups, helping to ease financial burdens as they enter university or college. At the same time, it strengthens their confidence and determination to study hard, become productive citizens, and contribute to their communities after graduation.
