The programme marks the 25th anniversary of Vietnamese Family Day (June 28, 2001–2026) and aims to honour the traditional cultural and humanitarian values of the Vietnamese family while promoting its role in modern society.
A key highlight will be a showcase of the culture and tourism of Gia Lai Province in the Central Highlands. Members of the Ba Na ethnic group will recreate the Soma Kocham festival, a traditional ritual believed to cleanse communities and pray for peace and good fortune. The ceremony reflects the Ba Na people’s spiritual life, communal solidarity and gratitude towards ancestors and deities.
The event will also feature folk singing and dance performances celebrating the cultural identity of the Central Highlands and the beauty of Ba Na traditions. Ethnic groups currently living and performing daily at the cultural village will join exchanges and performances.
Visitors will be able to explore a cultural and tourism space introducing Gia Lai’s destinations, OCOP products, traditional handicrafts and ethnic musical instruments. Ba Na artisans will demonstrate gong performances, bamboo instruments and traditional crafts such as brocade weaving, basket making and wood carving.
Traditional cuisine will form another major attraction. Guests can take part in preparing Ba Na specialities including bamboo-tube rice, bitter aubergine soup and grilled meat and chicken.
A themed programme titled “Vietnamese Family Home” will bring together families from Hung Yen Province to present traditional family customs, folk arts and regional cuisine. A family cooking activity with Central Highlands communities is expected to be one of the most engaging experiences.
Throughout June, the cultural village will continue hosting folk games, traditional performances and hands-on activities for children and families, helping visitors gain deeper insight into Viet Nam’s ethnic cultures while strengthening community and family bonds.
