Written with deep affection and respect for President Ho Chi Minh, the author offers vivid and insightful depictions of President Ho Chi Minh’s childhood, especially the years he lived with his parents and brother in the ancient capital Hue.
The book consists of 12 parts, faithfully portraying the personality formation of the beloved leader from early childhood, thanks to the family traditions such as a love of learning, diligence, frugality, integrity, fairness, and compassion.
Through the book, readers understand more about Uncle Ho's ups and downs in his childhood: peaceful moments with his parents, the simple meals with his family, and the affection of neighbours, then the heart-wrenching loss of his mother and younger brother. The book also introduces childhood friends who stood by Uncle Ho through both joy and sorrow, such as Hanh, Tuan, Ky, and Quang, who offered wholehearted support when he was still the boy Nguyen Sinh Con.
Writer Son Tung, whose full name was Bui Son Tung, was born in 1928 in Nghe An and passed away on July 22, 2021 in Ha Noi. He wrote numerous works on President Ho Chi Minh and other Vietnamese revolutionary and cultural figures, the most famous of which is the novel “The Green Lotus Bud” about the life of Ho Chi Minh
On July 14, 2011, State President Nguyen Minh Triet signed Decision No. 1083/QD-CTN awarding Son Tung the title Hero of Labour in the Renovation Period. He became the fourth member of the Viet Nam Writers’ Association to receive this prestigious title.
