Audiences look forward to national concert: Where tens of thousands of Vietnamese hearts beat as one

As the “To quoc trong tim” (Homeland in Our Hearts) concert draws near, the public’s excitement for the performances featured in the programme continues to grow. For many audience members, this is not only an opportunity to share in the patriotic heartbeat, but also a moment to unite under the national flag and raise their voices with the familiar line in the national anthem: “Doan quan Viet Nam di...” (The Vietnamese army marches…).

A special ticket for a visually impaired fan

Returning home with two tickets to the “To quoc trong tim” political–artistic programme in hand, Pham Hong Ha (a resident of O Cho Dua Ward, Ha Noi) expressed her gratitude to Nhan Dan Newspaper for its care, support, and efforts to create opportunities for disadvantaged people and those in difficult circumstances.

She recalled that on the very first day Nhan Dan Newspaper distributed free tickets to the “To quoc trong tim” concert, she was among many eager to attend in person but could not register for tickets online as guided by the organisers.

“My son insisted that I take him to the ticket distribution venue so he could have the chance to enjoy the music night,” she said, holding the hand of her son, Nguyen Dang Khanh, who was born visually impaired.

Khanh shared: “I learned about this programme from a news bulletin on the Voice of Viet Nam. Even though I cannot see, I still wish to be there in person, to immerse myself in the atmosphere of the night and listen to the songs praising our homeland.”

Khanh is the second son in Ha’s family. She and her husband discovered he was completely visually impaired when he was only a few months old. Later, a convulsive fever also affected his mobility.

“At that time, I was heartbroken to hear of his illness. Out of love for my child, I decided to quit my job to care for him full-time. We spent countless days going to the hospital for physiotherapy, then exploring places together. I always tried to describe the scenery so he could imagine the colourful world around him,” Ha said, pulling a small handkerchief from her bag to wipe the sweat from his forehead.

This year, Khanh turns 34. For over 30 years, the “light” in his life has come from his mother’s stories. His daily joy comes from a small radio that he listens to every day. “I love listening to football, news, and music. My dream is to stand under the grandstand and hear the live performances for myself,” Khanh confided.

Upon receiving information about Khanh’s case, the organisers of “To quoc trong tim” concert quickly verified and offered support.

Presenting two special tickets to Ha and her son, Nguyen Van Tinh, Deputy Director of the Media Development Centre (Nhan Dan Newspaper), expressed concern for Khanh’s health.

“This wish is entirely legitimate, and we deeply appreciate the affection people have for the programme. Given the scale of the event and the vast space of the stadium, although medical teams will be on standby, both mother and son should ensure they are well prepared physically and mentally to fully enjoy the national concert,” Tinh said.

Holding the ticket to the “To quoc trong tim” national concert, Khanh smiled brightly. “I am so happy to be supported by the organisers to attend the programme. This will also be my first time visiting My Dinh National Stadium,” he said.

Anticipating exciting performances

Having successfully secured her ticket to “To quoc trong tim”, Le Phuong Thao (a resident of Tu Liem Ward, Ha Noi) said: “I’m really looking forward to the exciting performances that will take place at the concert on August 10. From the tickets to related services, everything has been so professional and well-prepared.”

Thao happened to learn about this political–artistic programme through social media channels. Not only was she eager to register, she also shared information about the event widely with family and friends.

According to Thao, from the moment audiences queued for free tickets, to the gradual announcement of the artist line-up and the preview of planned performances, the organisers have kept the audience’s anticipation growing.

“This isn’t my first time attending a large-scale concert. But it is the first time I’ll be watching such a grand musical event in person without paying anything. ‘To quoc trong tim’ will be an opportunity for tens of thousands of hearts to beat in one for the homeland,” she said.

Looking forward to the live staging of “To quoc trong tim”, Thao shared: “I’m most excited for the moment when tens of thousands of spectators will stand together, facing the national flag fluttering in the stadium, and sing the national anthem in unison.”

In addition, the appearance of soldiers from the Army Officer College No.1, who once represented the Viet Nam People’s Army at the Red Square parade (Moscow, Russia), promises to bring a surprising and unique performance to the music stage.

For Nguyen Thi Diem Quynh, a third-year Korean Language student at Phenikaa University, the collaboration between veteran and young artists is what she is looking forward to most. She believes this will help bring revolutionary songs closer to younger generations, especially those in Gen Z.

“I do not think revolutionary music is hard to listen to. At this point, those heroic songs seem etched into the hearts of every Vietnamese. And every time those melodies resound, we — the young generation — feel immense pride and gratitude,” Quynh added.

The political–artistic programme “Homeland in Our Hearts”, jointly organised by Nhan Dan Newspaper and the Ha Noi Municipal People’s Committee, serves as a gift to the people on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 –2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam (September 2, 1945 –2025). Taking place at 8 p.m. on August 10 at My Dinh National Stadium, the programme affirms the pioneering role of Nhan Dan Newspaper in creating cultural and spiritual spaces with wide-reaching influence.
