The visit was one of many activities marking the 66th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day on July 27.
Talking with the families in Bai Thom and Cua Duong communes, the NA Vice Chairwoman wished them good health while encouraging them to set an example for others by following the Party and State’s policies, and contribute to development of the homeland.
During the visit, she also offered incense to martyrs and paid a visit to the Phu Quoc Prison historical site.
Later on the day, NA Vice Chairwoman Ngan attended a ceremony to present free milk to children of poor and underprivileged families on Phu Quoc Island.
Supported by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the Vietnam Children Sponsoring Fund, and the Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk), the fund is in its fifth year of its operation. In that time, it has offered over 20 million free glasses of milk to nearly 300,000 poor children nationwide; a contribution of VND75 billion.
The ‘Vietnam Rising’ Milk Fund will provide 67,000 glasses of milk to children living in Kien Giang province.
