After more than six months of preparation, with the support of the Steering Committee for External Information, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and especially The Gioi Publishers, as well as contributions from Greek translator Velissarios Kossivakis, a member of the Communist Party of Greece, and the New Star group, the Greek version of Biography of Ho Chi Minh has officially been launched.

According to Vietnamese Ambassador to Greece Pham Thi Thu Huong, while several books about President Ho Chi Minh have previously been translated into Greek, this newly published biography is the most comprehensive to date. It introduces readers to his life and revolutionary career, from his youth and the early years of seeking a path to national salvation, through the founding of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, the leadership of the revolutionary movement and the general uprising, to the resistance war against foreign aggression and the construction of socialism in North Viet Nam, as well as the struggle for national liberation and reunification.

Ambassador Pham Thi Thu Huong stressed that the book serves as a valuable reference for a growing number of Greek readers interested in learning more about the life, career and profound ideology of President Ho Chi Minh. It also contributes to fostering mutual understanding and strengthening the traditional friendship between the peoples of Viet Nam and Greece.

Having visited Viet Nam many times, Velissarios Kossivakis expressed his deep affection for the country and especially his profound respect and admiration for President Ho Chi Minh.

An experienced translator who has translated many publications by Cuban leaders into the Greek language, Kossivakis has long wished to translate the works of President Ho Chi Minh into Greek, enabling more people in Greece to gain insight into the great leader of the Vietnamese nation.

Expressing his gratitude to the Embassy of Viet Nam in Greece and The Gioi Publishers for supporting the fulfilment of this aspiration, Kossivakis shared that following the biography, he and the New Star group are currently working on translating the book “Selected Writings of President Ho Chi Minh from 1920 to 1969”, which has been provided by The Gioi Publishers, from English into Greek. They are striving to complete this work in time for the 80th anniversary of Viet Nam’s National Day.
