Automating processes, responding to plans
GHG inventories allow enterprises to identify emission sources, develop effective reduction pathways, and meet international standards. According to experts, to carry out inventories that require high authenticity, transparency and accuracy, businesses need to invest in training personnel to understand current regulations. The GHG inventory process typically involves five steps: defining organisational boundaries and emission sources; collecting operational data; selecting emission coefficients and calculating emissions per source (fuel, electricity, procurement, etc.); reporting results; and identifying and setting emission reduction targets.
However, many Vietnamese businesses face significant challenges in greenhouse gas inventory. The data used for greenhouse gas inventory at enterprises is often very large, with up to tens of thousands of rows per month. Manually processing each row is not only time-consuming but also potentially risky, leading to inaccurate results, forcing enterprises to recheck and recalibrate many times.
Ensuring data accuracy is critical and requires substantial human and time resources, particularly for businesses lacking standardised environmental data systems. As such, technology is seen as the key to overcoming these challenges, especially as export markets impose increasingly strict environmental regulations such as the European Union (EU), has introduced the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) or the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).
In response, VertZéro offers an automated GHG inventory platform that covers all three emission scopes, automating the collection, calculation and reporting of emissions. Tuan Pham, Product Director and Co-founder of VertZéro of FPT Corporation, shared that the VertZéro platform automates over 80% of internal GHG inventory processes, from data gathering and emission factor updates to generating analytical reports. Notably, inventory time has been reduced from several weeks to just a few days, thanks to API integrations with internal management systems (ERP, building management, and infrastructure operations).
Instead of the manual or estimated methods, VertZéro enables businesses to automate their processes, measure and manage environmental impacts, and quickly identify emission quantity at each branch. This supports the development of targeted reduction strategies aligned with the specific characteristics of each site, thereby laying the foundation for long-term planning. Once data transparency is ensured, the entire inventory process, operated by VertZéro, adheres to international standards such as the GHG Protocol and ISO 14064-1. These widely recognised frameworks ensure the accuracy of inventory process.
This Vietnamese technology solution has won many domestic and international scientific and technological awards, including the Stevie Awards for Technology Excellence 2024, and Sao Khue Award 2024. Most recently, VertZéro has been named one of the top ten innovative products at the 4th Ho Chi Minh City Innovation Awards in 2025.
Supporting businesses in green transformation
Investing in GHG inventory technology is considered a strategic move that brings Vietnamese enterprises closer to sustainable development target and global market integration. Within the framework of the green transformation strategy, VertZéro assists businesses not only in conducting emissions inventories but also in offering strategic advice and action recommendations based on real data. These recommendations may include improving energy efficiency (optimising lighting and air conditioning), switching to transport vehicles, deploying renewable energy solutions such as solar power, or implementing long-term initiatives like afforestation or production innovation.
VertZéro’s proposals are designed to help businesses build emission reduction roadmaps that are suitable with their operational features, investment capabilities, and Net Zero targets in each stage. This is a major step in integrating climate governance into both operational and financial strategies of businesses.
Net Zero has become a strategic orientation of economic sectors, with high requirement on sustainability and environmental friendliness. “Greening” in production and business is not only a requirement in the development plan of enterprises in the architecture and construction industry, but also in other fields.
Indeed, major enterprises in retail, banking, automobile manufacturing, finance, and logistics in Viet Nam have already adopted VertZéro to conduct emissions inventories in their operational chains. Furthermore, businesses that publicly and transparently report their emissions data are 40% higher to attract green investment than those that do not.
To support Vietnamese businesses in their green transformation journeys, FPT has partnered with BIDV to offer the GHG inventory and emissions management software solution free of charge (for a limited time) to all BIDV corporate clients. After this period, the solution will be available at a preferential rate of up to 25%. Applying technology solutions such as VertZéro to measure, control and report greenhouse gas emissions is particularly meaningful in the context of banks wanting to increase green lending and is a strategic step in the green transformation journey. Integrating greenhouse gas inventories into a business's ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) strategy not only complies with sustainable development requirements but also creates favourable conditions for businesses to achieve international environmental certifications. Transparency of emissions data also helps businesses enhance their reputation and attract investment capital from sustainable development funds and green finance.
