The event marked a new milestone in efforts to bring products manufactured in Viet Nam to international markets.
At the ceremony, representatives of Thanh Cong Group and Hyundai Motor said the two sides began their partnership in 2009, gradually investing in, building, and expanding the automobile manufacturing system in Ninh Binh. In 2022, Hyundai Thanh Cong Plant No. 2 began operations, significantly increasing the production scale and capacity. By 2026, the two plants had produced more than 500,000 finished vehicles. This year's export plan is expected to reach 15,280 units, including finished vehicles and components.
With support from the government, ministries, sectors, and Ninh Binh Province, Hyundai Thanh Cong has gradually built large-scale production capacity and operated in accordance with Hyundai Motor's global standards.
Building on nearly 20 years of development, Hyundai Thanh Cong has identified exports as a long-term strategic direction. During 2027-2029, the company plans to expand into markets in the Middle East, Africa, Central America, South America, and Russia, with total exports expected to reach around 187,000 units. From 2030, Hyundai Thanh Cong aims to become a global export hub, with annual output exceeding 60,000 units, enabling products, components, and industrial capabilities developed in Viet Nam to participate more deeply in the international automotive value chain.
Speaking at the ceremony, Tran Huy Tuan, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Ninh Binh Provincial Party Committee, emphasised that exports to Mexico and Australia marked a significant milestone, as these markets have stringent requirements for technical standards, safety, quality, and environmental protection. Together with the expansion into Taiwan (China) in 2026, Hyundai Thanh Cong products are gradually gaining a presence across Asia, the Americas, and Oceania.
According to him, this is not only an achievement for the business but also a noteworthy accomplishment for the processing and manufacturing industry of Ninh Binh and Viet Nam, demonstrating advances in production capacity, quality management, technology, and the ability to participate in global value chains. Hyundai Thanh Cong has also contributed to creating thousands of jobs, training technical workers, developing networks of supporting enterprises, and contributing to the state budget, thereby affirming Ninh Binh's position as an important automobile manufacturing centre in the country.
Ninh Binh is entering a new phase of development with greater space and potential. The Resolution of the First Ninh Binh Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 tenure sets the goal of developing Ninh Binh into a centrally governed city before 2030, with modern industry, high-quality tourism services, and green urban areas linked to its heritage. In this development, automobile engineering is identified as one of the pillars for building a high-tech industrial centre in the region and in the country.
In the coming period, the provincial leader asked Thanh Cong Group, Hyundai Motor, and Hyundai Thanh Cong Viet Nam to continue identifying Ninh Binh as an important manufacturing and export base in their long-term strategies, while prioritising new products, advanced technologies, energy efficiency, and environmentally friendly solutions.
The businesses should promote supporting industries, increase localisation rates, and expand links with enterprises in the province and across the country. They should also strengthen research and development, technology transfer, innovation, digital transformation, automation, smart manufacturing, and the green transition. At the same time, they should focus on efficient energy use, emissions reduction, environmental protection, and the training of highly skilled engineers, technicians and workers.
Ninh Binh Province also called on the government, ministries, and sectors to continue improving policies on the development of the automobile and supporting industries as well as helping businesses to enhance their technological capabilities, connect with supply chains, and expand export markets.
