Many new tourism products
In Ho Chi Minh City, key tourist spots such as the Independence Palace, the War Remnants Museum, the Cu Chi Tunnels, and the ancient architectural sites in the central area have been upgraded with improved landscapes and additional signboards.
The authorities have developed traffic management plans to guide locals and tourists for easier movement, especially in areas where parades and major events are taking place, as well as routes leading to famous tourist destinations. The city has also increased public bus routes to expand connections to various attractions.
According to Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, the department and travel companies have designed many new tourism products linked to cultural and historical depth to mark the 50th anniversary of National Reunification. Examples include community-based tourism products in Thanh An Commune (Can Gio District), Hoc Mon — a land of affection and spirit, and the “Nam Ky Luc Tinh” (six southern provinces) tour — from tradition to creative culture.
Hanoi also has many attractive cultural events for both domestic and international visitors during this time. In the central area, Hoan Kiem District is organising a series of activities honouring heritage, such as: the bamboo and rattan weaving exhibition titled “Made of Tre” at the Hanoi Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Centre; an introduction to the art of Chuyen My inlay and hosting various workshops; and a photo exhibition titled “Memories and Legends” at the Cultural and Arts Centre.
At Hoan Kiem Lake, a special interactive exhibition by Nhan Dan Newspaper celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification continues to welcome visitors. There are various displays such as 11 enlarged front pages of the People’s Newspaper published on April 30 from 1975 to 2020; key battles leading to the Great Spring victory of 1975; and a 3D mapping technology projection showing the campaign on the vertical page of the newspaper
The exhibition uses many modern technologies, attracting many visitors, especially the youth who come to explore. Nhan Dan Newspaper is giving away hundreds of thousands of special supplements about the Ho Chi Minh Campaign.
Ha Long City (Quang Ninh Province) will host the Ha Long Carnaval 2025 on the evening of May 1. The city will launch three new products: coffee buses, hot air balloon flights for tourists to enjoy the city's view from above in Tuan Chau Ward, and a hop on-hop off sightseeing boat service to take visitors to tourist destinations from Bai Chay to Hon Gai and vice versa.
Additionally, Quang Ninh has introduced several high-end tourism products, such as luxury cruises and super yachts in Ha Long Bay, which have started attracting affluent tourists.
The festive atmosphere is already spreading in popular tourist destinations in Ninh Binh Province. The highlight of the event is the "Non La - Vietnam Festival" program from April 30 to May 3 at the Tam Coc-Bich Dong Tourist Area, offering visitors an immersion into traditional cultural experiences with shows of ancient costumes, the live action “Hoa Lu Vu Hoa”, the music night "Nhuom Sac Luu Giang", along with displays of handcrafted products like Kim Son sedge, Van Lam embroidery, and Bo Bat ceramics.
At the Trang An heritage site, the “Offroad Challenge 2025” race and the “Heritage Art for Life” program with traditional craft village experiences will also be held.
Green tourism products rise
This year, during the April 30 and May 1 holiday, the number of tourists in Ha Giang Province is expected to rise, with hundreds of thousands of visitors. Most hotels, guesthouses, and homestays in the districts of the Global Geopark of Dong Van Stone Plateau have already been fully booked.
To diversify tourism products for holidaymakers, localities are organising cultural and festival activities. The Khau Vai Fair has opened in Meo Vac District, while the Mong flute festival was launched on April 24.
Ecotourism, green tourism, and flower tourism products continue to be promoted by many regions. The districts on the Dong Van Stone Plateau have planned areas for growing temperate fruits such as peaches, pears, plums, and strawberries. Local communities have encouraged people to open their orchards to tourists for check-ins during the flower season and fruit picking experiences.
Ngo Quang Tu, Director of the Tourism Management Department, Cao Bang Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, shared that many green, environmentally friendly tourist destinations have been developed to attract visitors. Among them, the Kolia Ecotourism Area in Nguyen Binh District offers lush green tea hills, flower-growing areas that form a flower road stretching several kilometres with wisteria, pear blossoms, myrtle, and cherry blossoms, creating a relaxing atmosphere for visitors.
Preventing service price overcharging
Many accommodation establishments in localities have launched promotions, discounts, and additional services. Dang Huong Giang, Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, confirmed: “The tourism industry will coordinate with other sectors, localities, and tourist sites to ensure security, order, and traffic safety; proactively checking and inspecting the public display of prices and ensuring that services are provided at the listed prices.”
The Ninh Binh Department of Tourism has also set up a hotline, published a list of prestigious establishments, and increased inspections to avoid overcharging tourists.
The Ha Giang Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has publicly provided a list of 739 accommodation establishments that meet the standards for serving tourists, including hotels, guesthouses, and homestays.
Ngo Manh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Meo Vac District People's Committee, stated that Meo Vac expects to welcome tens of thousands of visitors during the holiday. The district has set up an inter-agency inspection team to regularly monitor service quality at accommodation establishments and restaurants, intensifying checks on food safety and hygiene; and ensuring that prices are displayed and sold at the listed prices.
The Ha Giang Provincial Public Security have directed the traffic police force to mobilise 100% of their personnel to ensure traffic safety during the holiday, preventing prolonged traffic congestion on national highways, especially on National Highway 4C and inter-district and inter-commune roads in the Global Geopark of Dong Van Stone Plateau.
The Ninh Binh Provincial Public Security have also devised a traffic flow plan for tourist sites such as Tam Coc, Trang An, and Bai Dinh, aiming to ensure safe travel for visitors and a peaceful environment for locals.
