"Love Vietnam So Much" connects Dien Bien Phu’s history with domestic destinations

With the aim of enriching the experience of both locals and tourists, Nhan Dan Newspaper and its technology partners have recently completed the installation of NFC chip-integrated boards (wireless connectivity technology) as part of the “Love Vietnam So Much” project at three famous tourist sites in Dien Bien Province.

In Dien Bien Province — home to the historic Battle of Dien Bien Phu, known as a “world-shaking” victory — the “Love Vietnam So Much” project has installed NFC chip-integrated boards at three locations: the Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum, Hill A1 (Muong Thanh Ward, Dien Bien Phu City), and the Headquarters of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign (in Muong Phang Commune, Dien Bien Phu City).

When visiting these three locations, tourists only need a smartphone with internet access and NFC functionality enabled (on supported devices). By simply bringing their phone close to the information board as instructed, their screen will instantly display a link directing them to the project’s website.

On this website, visitors can easily explore detailed historical information about the sites, record their presence, and see how many others have checked in before them. Additionally, they can freely upload personal photos and share messages or emotions about their visit.

As a frequent visitor to historical sites, Mai Hai Yen (26 years old, from Thanh Xuong Commune, Dien Bien District) was excited to experience the NFC chip-integrated board installed by Nhan Dan Newspaper at Hill A1.

“When accessing the ‘Love Vietnam So Much’ website, I learned more about the site and discovered beautiful photo angles shared by other tourists,” Yen shared.

She also mentioned her plan to return to Hill A1 in May, when the flamboyant trees bloom bright red, to capture memorable photos next to the two magnificent flowering trees.

Visiting the Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum in late March 2025, Quang Van Thoat (35 years old, from Bon Phang Commune, Thuan Chau District, Son La Province) was thrilled to hear about the NFC chip-integrated board providing comprehensive information about the historical site.

“The NFC chip-integrated board under the ‘Love Vietnam So Much’ project helps visitors like me, who come from far away, to easily find valuable information about the destinations,” he said.

One especially exciting feature of the “Love Vietnam So Much” project is that all images and messages contributed by users nationwide are compiled into a unique digital map of Vietnam. This representation of national pride and love for the homeland has captivated many visitors to the three Dien Bien sites.

The “Love Vietnam So Much” project is a meaningful initiative by Nhan Dan Newspaper to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of southern Vietnam and national reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025).

By leveraging NFC (near-field communication) technology, the project is being expanded across provinces and cities nationwide, offering an innovative way to engage with cultural and historical landmarks.
