More than 4,000 people participate in blood donation programme in Ho Chi Minh City

The voluntary blood donation programme entitled Red Journey 2022 and the Ho Chi Minh City voluntary blood donation festival were launched in Ho Chi Minh City on July 7, attracting the participation of 4,000 people.

The Red Journey programme will be launched in 46 provinces and cities nationwide and this is the tenth year that Ho Chi Minh City has responded to the programme.

Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Red Cross Association Tran Truong Son said that the Red Journey 2022, the tenth of its kind, is expected to receive 40,000 blood bags to meet the blood demand for emergency and treatment at hospitals throughout the city.

At the launch ceremony, the Government Certificates of Merit were presented to 12 individuals in Ho Chi Minh City who have consecutively donated blood over the years. Fifty-nine-year-old Ta Minh Dat is a typical blood donor who has donated blood 97 times.

On this occasion, the organising board also handed out 20 gifts to patients suffering from congenital hemolytic diseases.
