Pho Yen town under Thai Nguyen province established

Thai Nguyen authorities held a ceremony on July 16 to announce the establishment of Pho Yen town under Thai Nguyen province following a Resolution adopted by the National Assembly Standing Committee (NASC) on May 15, 2015.

At the event, NA Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan granted the NASC's Resolution on the establishment of the town to leaders of Pho Yen town.

Pho Yen, located in the south of Thai Nguyen province and adjacent to Hanoi, is a gateway connecting Thai Nguyen with Hanoi and other provinces in the Red River Delta.

Pho Yen has attracted more than 60 large projects from 2010 to 2015 worth a total of VND225 trillion (US$10.35 billion) with the Samsung project in Yen Binh industrial zone being the largest one. The town posts an average GDP per capita of VND54 million (US$2,480) and a poverty rate of 6.54%.

On the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh presented the Independence Order, third class to the town in recognition of its achievements over the past 70 years.

Speaking at the ceremony, NA Vice Chairwoman Ngan congratulated the people of Pho Yen on this significant event and praised their efforts in the past 70 years.

She suggested the town focus on producing its strongest commodities, and accelerate administrative reforms to attract more investment while ensuring social welfare and improving living standards for the locals.
