NDO - The education ministry has vowed to ensure safety against COVID-19 as nearly 12,000 high-school students begin the second phase of the graduation examination.

The second stage is for students who were unable to take part in the first stage due to the coronavirus pandemic and is being administered at 49 examination sites across 38 provinces and cities.

The results of the exam, which is taking place on August 6 and 7, will also be used to determine students’ entry to colleges and universities.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son said the ministry strives to organise a fair examination while giving the top priority to ensuring safety for students and invigilators.

Prior to the exam day, coronavirus testing was conducted for students and exam officials and exam sites were disinfected, while healthcare workers have been dispatched to deal with any emergency.

In the second stage, students will take the literature and maths tests on August 6 and the social science/natural science and foreign language tests on August 7.
