The facility will be expanded to cover a total area of 2,156 m2, meeting work place requirements for relevant authorities and facilitating procedures via the border gate.
Budget for the upgrade is funded by charges at local border economic zones.
According to Head of the province’s international border gate management board Pham Van Son, Moc Bai international gate was built in 2003 and has since deteriorated rapidly due to overcrowding.
The project will commence in early 2016. During construction, the checkpoint at Moc Bai border gate will be temporarily relocated to a new area, about 100m away. Customs and border procedures via the gate will continue as normal.
